Lines and Angles — The Foundation of All Geometry

Looking for a class 6 math worksheet or maths worksheet for class 6 with answers? This comprehensive resource covers everything you need. Every shape you will ever study in maths is made of lines and angles. A triangle has 3 line segments and 3 angles. A rectangle has 4 of each. Even circles involve angles when you study arcs and sectors later.

This chapter in the new NCERT Ganita Prakash textbook teaches you to see geometry precisely. You learn the difference between a line (infinite), a ray (one endpoint), and a segment (two endpoints). You learn to name angles, measure them with a protractor, and classify them as acute, right, obtuse, straight, or reflex.

This Lines and Angles Class 6 worksheet gives you 60 carefully graded questions to build that precision.

Beyond this worksheet, SparkEd offers interactive online practice for Lines and Angles with step-by-step solutions and progress tracking.

What Does This Worksheet Cover?

Aligned with the NCERT Class 6 Lines and Angles chapter (Ganita Prakash Chapter 2):

- Points, lines, rays, and segments — definitions and notation
- Types of angles — acute, right, obtuse, straight, reflex, complete
- Measuring angles — using a protractor accurately
- Comparing angles — which angle is bigger without measuring
- Angle pairs — complementary, supplementary, adjacent
- Perpendicular and parallel lines — identification and properties
- Angles on a straight line — angles adding up to 180 degrees

| Level | Focus | Count |
|-------|-------|-------|
| Level 1 | Identify lines/rays/segments, classify angles, read protractor | 20 |
| Level 2 | Measure and draw angles, find missing angles in pairs | 20 |
| Level 3 | Angle relationships, multi-step problems, perpendicular/parallel reasoning | 20 |

Sample Questions

Level 1 — Warm Up

  1. Classify the following angles: (a) 35°35\degree (b) 90°90\degree (c) 142°142\degree (d) 180°180\degree
  2. How many endpoints does a ray have? How many does a line segment have?
  3. Name three line segments in the figure where points A, B, and C lie on a straight line.

Level 2 — Build Confidence

  1. Two angles are complementary. One angle is 37°37\degree. Find the other.
  2. Draw an angle of 125°125\degree using a protractor. What type of angle is it?
  3. Angles on a straight line are x°x\degree and 115°115\degree. Find xx.

Level 3 — Push Yourself

  1. Two supplementary angles are in the ratio 2:32 : 3. Find both angles.
  2. Three angles on a straight line are x°x\degree, 2x°2x\degree, and 3x°3x\degree. Find all three angles.
  3. In a figure, two lines cross each other. One angle formed is 65°65\degree. Find all four angles at the intersection.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Common Mistakes to Avoid

1. Confusing lines, rays, and segments. A line has no endpoints and extends forever both ways. A ray has one endpoint. A segment has two endpoints. The notation matters: AB\overline{AB} is a segment, AB\overrightarrow{AB} is a ray.

2. Reading the wrong scale on the protractor. Protractors have two scales (inner and outer). Always check which scale starts at 0°0\degree along one arm of your angle.

3. Forgetting that complementary means 90, supplementary means 180. A quick trick: C comes before S in the alphabet, and 90 comes before 180.

4. Not identifying reflex angles. If an angle looks bigger than 180°180\degree, it is a reflex angle. Reflex angle = 360°360\degree minus the angle you measured on the smaller side.

5. Mixing up adjacent and vertically opposite angles. Adjacent angles share an arm. Vertically opposite angles are across from each other when two lines cross — and they are always equal.
