Triangular numbers are numbers that can form an equilateral triangle of dots. The sequence is 1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, ... Each new term adds one more row of dots. The nth triangular number is n(n+1)/2.

How to Crack Pattern Questions

$1. Look at the differences. Write the difference between consecutive terms. If the differences are constant (like 3, 3, 3), it is an arithmetic pattern. If the differences themselves form a pattern, go one level deeper.$

$2. Check for multiplication. Some patterns grow by multiplying: 2, 6, 18, 54 (each term is 3 times the previous). Not every pattern is additive.$
