* Confusing numerator and denominator — Some children write the total on top and the parts taken on the bottom. Use a memory aid: "Denominator is Down" (both start with D).

* Fraction of a number — multiplying instead of dividing — When asked for 14\frac{1}{4} of 2020, a child writes 4×20=804 \times 20 = 80. Reinforce that 1n\frac{1}{n} of a number means dividing by nn.
