How do you convert a fraction to a decimal?

Divide the numerator by the denominator. For example, 3/4 = 3 divided by 4 = 0.75. Alternatively, make the denominator 10, 100 or 1000 by multiplying: 3/4 = 75/100 = 0.75.

How do you compare two decimals?

First compare the whole number parts. If equal, compare tenths, then hundredths, and so on from left to right. Add trailing zeros to make the decimal places equal. For example, 3.5 vs 3.48: compare 3.50 and 3.48. Since 50 > 48, 3.5 > 3.48.

Why do we line up decimal points when adding?

Lining up decimal points ensures you add tenths to tenths, hundredths to hundredths, etc. Without alignment, you might accidentally add tenths to hundredths, giving a wrong result.
