How do you divide an amount in a given ratio?

Add the parts of the ratio to find the total number of parts. Divide the total amount by this number to find the value of one part. Then multiply by each part of the ratio. For example, divide 180 in the ratio 2:3: total parts = 5, one part = 36, shares are 72 and 108.
